I was in a black IPA kinda mood. With just enough with me for one bottle, I expected to run in and run out. I knew what I wanted. I came for the Captain, my favorite black IPA. If they were out, I had a back up plan: the 1881 red ale. All good. I found the aisle and both were on the shelves, but… there was another. Hop Sac is back. Decisions, decisions.
Join @IgersSacramento for a photo walk on Sunday, 9/2. Meet us in front of Hot Italian at 1pm for the 22nd annual Chalk It Up. (Live music, food trucks, chalk art, arts & crafts vendors and a beer garden.) This event is free to the public and raises grant money for children’s art education. If you can’t make it during the photo walk, stop by on one of the other days. Chalk it Up goes from September 1st – 3rd.

Who wants coffee in a paper cup, hidden with a plastic lid? Stop that!
Sacramento has a plethora of wonderful coffee houses. Get to know them. Insight is one at the top of the list. It’s my office away from home.
If you haven’t been to Insight Coffee Roasters, you are missing out on a delicious coffee drinking experience. Americano and Cappuccino perfection! Head over there this week and stay a while.
Good things take time, as they should. We shouldn’t expect good things to happen overnight. Actually, getting something too easily or too soon can cheapen the outcome.
At Launch last week, Exquisite Corps put on an incredible show, featuring music from their newly released album. Fans filled the street in front of the MARRS building and I was lucky to squeeze my way to a front seat. I soon joined the line of people who couldn’t wait to purchase the new cd. Support local music and check them out.
If you missed the album release concert, don’t worry, you’re in luck. There are three upcoming opportunities to see them live. This Thursday, August 9th, check out the band for free, at Freemont Park for the Hot Lunch concert series. On August 10th, they’ll be performing with Coast Jumper at Sophia’s Thai Kitchen. How can you resist amazing live music on the patio and delicious Thai food, on a beautiful summer night? Then, on August 24th, check out the Vinyl Release show at Harlow’s. Did I mention tickets are only $8 online? Did I mention “vinyl?” Sweet!! Get your tickets before they sell out.

The Old Sugar Mill is a beautiful spot, not far from downtown Sacramento. Take pics alongside other cool people, like yourself, who also share a passion for Instagram. The Plan: meet near the sign out front at 3pm. We’ll explore and take pics for about an hour, then meet at a designated spot to take a group photo and hang out. SactoMoFo and the Old Sugar Mill wineries will be having a “Grapes and Grub” event that day. There will be patio tables, live music and food trucks for us to enjoy afterward.
